What to Wear: Fashion's Night Out 2012

Hold on to your Ray-Bans--Fashion's Night Out is celebrating its fourth year and kicking off New York Fashion Week this Thursday, September 6th. This crazy mixup of celebs and the fashion obsessed (I saw Pharrell and almost got knocked down by Kanye and his security last year) is set to take over the city once again, proving that even the chic are capable of forming mobs. First night out? Scout your locations early, otherwise you'll probably end up wandering through Soho wondering where everyone else got the free champagne.

Other than catching a glimpse of the Biebs (you've been warned), bragging rights will be given to those stylish enough to stand out in a sea of fashion and culture. Street-style photogs will be out in full force, and the world should know how stylish you are. Need some help? Try one of these notice-me ensembles on for size!

True warriors will need comfy footwear, like a chic flat, to tackle as many events as possible. Bonus! You'll also be more stable after a few sips of bubbly:

Oh, me? I'm part of the designer's entourage, can't you tell?

Too cool for FNO, but still want to check out the festivities? Look like you accidentally wandered here while looking so darn chic:

Lucky you! You've got an invite to an exclusive party:

Mango sheer top, $50 / Bqueen bandage skirt, $59 (was $99) / Alexis Bittar ring, $88 (was $175) / Betsey Johnson neon clutch, $82 (was $98) / NARS lip gloss in 'Wonder', $24 / Sam Edelman ankle booties, $144 (was $290)

Anyone plan to participate in Fashion's Night Out this year? Have you gone in the past?

Fashion Week Street Style

Fashion week has just wrapped up in New York and kicked off in London, leaving behind a stockpile of street style photos in its wake. I love seeing the most stylish people in the city amp up their game, don't you?

The first thing I noticed was all of the color:

Ladylike details were also in the mix (Downton Abbey, anyone?):

Pastels are supposed to be a huge hit this spring:

Printed pants are also predicted to make a splash, but I don't think I'll be taking part in this high-potential trainwreck trend.

Which are your faves? Excited to try any of these (or are you already on board, you trendsetter)?

My NYFW bliss

Ladies and gentlemen, my life has been made: I had the pleasure of attending Betsey Johnson's NYFW show!

If you haven't seen the hype (airbrushed-lace wigs! So many animal prints, ruffles and sweaters I want to steal! Store employees as models!), check out NY Mag's coverage of this insane event. For how I snuck backstage, stay here.

Sometimes, you just know you'll hate yourself if you don't take advantage of an opportunity. After the show, I noticed some guests headed toward the exit, and a few others walking backstage. I've been known to press my luck at concerts to meet my favorite bands, and decided, what's the worst that can happen?

How about a steady flow of champagne, schmoozing with the Pink Patch models and witnessing the incomparable Betsey Johnson and Patricia Field goof around like BFFs. I felt like a total creeper, but luckily no one asked me what I was doing or who I was!

I didn't get to meet Betsey, she was doing interviews and surrounded by people the entire time, but I am so glad I was able to witness her tremendous energy.

I'm not sure why my phone spazzed on Patricia Field's elbow.. possibly because I was a spazzy mess, as well?
Betsey and her amazing team
I took video of the final walk, including Betsey pulling Patricia on the runway for a little dance, but the audio is terrible (it was so loud that the bass was shaking my seat the entire time) and the lights from the runway make everyone look like ghosts.

I can't wait until NYFW is a steady part of my life! The few hours that I experienced were so much fun, and Betsey Johnson was one hell of a crash-course.
